Prerequisites:
All employees hired to work in the ambulances must be certified by New York State at the EMT-B, EMT-I, AEMT-CCT or AEMT-P level.
1) EMT - current New York State Emergency Medical Technican certification
2) CCT - current New York State Critical Care Technician certification; plus
- current ACLS certification
- current CPR certification
3) Paramedic - current New York State Paramedic certification; plus
- current ACLS certification
- current CPR certification
Employee Standards
In addition to NYS certification, Mohawk Ambulance will require additional hands-on and classroom training upon hire along with a week long orientation program:
- Intro to Mohawk
- OSHA training
- Albuterol with the AED and EpiPen training
- Blood-borne and Air-borne Pathogens
- and Hazard Communication program.
- Documentation training
- Review of equipment
Patient Lifting and Moving
- AED and Epi-pen In-service
- Driver Training
- A comprehensive program covering vehicle handling and ambulance operations
- For Paramedic and Critical Care Technicians:
- Internship - Preceptor Programs for students
